Retaining Wall

We just moved inot our house a few months ago. Our backyard has a huge retaining wall the entire length of the yard. Its made of wood. It looks pretty good right now but I was wondering if I need to apply something to it in order to maintain it and keep it from rotting.

We had a retaining wall in the front of our last house. My husband bought something at Home Depot to treat it. Ours was starting to rott so we needed to do something. I'm not sure of the name of it. I'm sure if you go to a Home Depot or Lowes, there will be someone there you can ask.

You'll want to treat any cut ends with preservative to prevent rotting

I'm now just noticing some large holes on some of the beams. I'm hoping there's no snakes living inside
