What type of fertilizer do you all use to maintain your lawn?

Depending on the time of year, I use 2 different formulas. During Spring, I use a 2 parts Nitrogen to 1 part Phosphorous to 1 part Potassium spray. The Nitrogen promotes healthy green growth, so is ideal for this time of year. In Autumn I feed again, but with a 1 part Nitrogen to 2 parts Phosphorous to 1 part Potassium spray. The Phosphorous promotes healthy root growth, making the lawn hardier for the winter frosts. Remember you need to feed while the grass is dry, but the soil is damp, or rain is expected. And never spray in windy weather. No-one likes a half green/half brown lawn :o

Hey gf, is that a homemade fertilizer? Where do you get those ingredients?

I've always stuck with a fertilizer that you can get from a store like Home Depot or Lowes. Something like a Scotts Brand fertilizer, but again, I'm not an expert whatsoever.

I wish I knew more about it...

You are certainly a professional gardener.

Actually I remember reading from a book, putting which type of fertilizers and how much depends on where you live. For example in a hot climatic condition country, you should water the plant more and it goes the same for the use of climatic fertilizers.

This may help you

you can also try ratios of 1-2-2 in spring, 2-1-2 in summer, and 1-3-3 in fall.
Don't underestimate the value of potassium, it is needed for healthy cell walls for the hot dry summer months and the cold winter months. Anything close to these ratios from local hardware or garden center stores will do
