What material works well for a patio?

we could use the trex-type stuff for the deck, but expensive!
what wood is good to use? Or does it not matter as long as it is properly sealed againt the rain?

You can buy pre-treated wood. Wood is the cheaper way to go. The stones and block look much better but they are incredibly expensive.
