I have an old millstone that was used many years ago for grinding corn in our home town. The stone weighs about 250 pounds, is round with a square hole in the middle. I saw a picture where a landscape architect made a fountain with a millstone. It was laying directly on the ground (on some rocks), and water was coming up out of the hole in the middle of the rock. I would like to do the same with my stone, but I have no clue how the architect acheived this process. If any of you have any ideas I would love for you to share them with me.

I've seen something similar to this done on TV. A water reservoir is placed underground, which contains the pump, and main fountain spout in the centre. The reservoir is covered in strong steel mesh, and steel crossbars are placed across the mesh. The stone is placed on the crossbars, with the fountain spout through the centre, and rocks, gravel or large pebbles are placed around it to hide the mesh. A perspex plate is cut to fit around the fountain spout, level with the top of the stone, and is sealed all round with silicon sealant.

When the fountain is turned on, the water will drain off of the millstone, drain through the rock/pebbles and back into the reservoir.

Thank you Lorry. I knew it had to be water underground somehow, but I just couldn't figure out the details. I will give your information to my cousin who can build just about anything. I appreciate your response.
