I have a very large Sugar Maple tree in my back yard in the city which makes the entire back yard VERY shady. It is nicely landscaped with many shade tolerant plants, and after many futile attempts at grass, we finally achieved a nice "lawn" of moss. We now have two puppies that have essentially obliterated the moss. I am looking for something to plant (zone 6) to replace the moss that will tolerate the shade, the dense acidic soil of the maple and more durable than the moss so it will better withstand playfull puppies. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
