Not a good time to plant

I posted in the lawn maintenance thread about how dry it is here in the South. I feel like that had a lot to do with my buddleia not making it. My wife and I really want to finish some projects and get a few things planted. But, I'm not sure if it's worth my time and money to plant things when its so dry and I'm having a tough time with what I already have.

I have heard on the news that the South has recently had some relief with a little rain. Has it helped any?
