View Full Version : Bark path
If I put a bark/woodchip path down in my garden, would it be likely to rot? (we recieve quite a lot of rain)
My elderly mother lives in an annex on our property, and she can't walk as well as she used to, and falls quite often, so we wanted to put down a bark path winding through my garden, where she spends a lot of time.
You should be OK doing this. A playground near us uses bark under the swings and slide, to protect the kids, so it should be perfect for your needs too. As for rotting, the local council come andput fresh bark on top every year, but I don't think it rots, I just think it gradually disintigrates/ blows away.

Cedar bark is naturally moisture proof so would be a good choice.
I have heard that processed woodchips are less prone to degradation than bark, is it true? If it is, then it should be a better choice as it comes with many colours too.

Cedar has a nice smell too. I like this idea, thanks greenlove.

I have never heard of wood chips rotting. I'm sure they're treated with something.
