I have installed a retaining wall in my yard. It ranges from 1' to 4' tall. Should I line the back side with plastic before back filling with soil? If so, what's the purpous of the lining? Thanks

Plastic lining is a good idea. It's not required though...

Depending on the soil you fill with, it could seep through the retaining wall blocks overtime, leaving unsightly stains in the blocks. They can be pressure washed clean, but it is a pain to have to do that.

The plastic is just an added layer of protection, so it's really just personal preference.

Good luck with the project...
