Landscape design done by professionals can be expensive. Many of us enjoy tackeling these projects ourself. I thought we can all help each other by posting tips on making the j ob less expensive and less stressful.

My tip is-Don't take on too much at once. Sometimes it can be overwhelming if there are a few projects that you're thinking of doing. Do one project at a time.

If you don't have a software program for landscape design, then try sketching your ideas down. Sometimes it helps to do that especially if you have a few different projects or a backyard that's a blank slate.

My tip is to have an idea of the total amount of money you're willing to spend on the project and stick to it.

I think getting an opinion by a professional is a wise idea. They're better able to tell you the total cost of the job and whether or not it will work out exactly how you want. I've changed my mind several times on projects once I had a professional come and give me an estimate. I enjoy doing things myself but there are times when hiring a professional was just more cost effective and less time consuming. So basically, you have to know what you can handle.
