Curious about caterpillars

We moved here to NC in the summer. We started noticing these furry caterpillars in our yard. We would see them occasionally at first. But then we noticed there were dozens of them crawling along our driveway. We even found a few that traveled into our garage. I took a look at our trees and shrubs and didn't notice any directly on them. Does anybody have any idea what these are?

I have family who live in Georgia. They have a type of caterpillar called an orange striped oakworm. Maybe thats the same one. Does it look like this:
