Cost of In-Ground Pools Not Cut And Dry

An in ground swimming pool for many around the country represents the American dream of home ownership and having all those things that we feel will somehow complete us as individuals as well as families. For many a pool such as this is a lifelong dream. Some will only look at homes that have these pools while others buy a home with the installation of in ground pool first and foremost on their to do list of changes to be made. These individuals have even scoped out prime real estate on the lot for the location of that very pool before an offer was ever put into writing.

If you are one of these people it is probably a good idea to have a clear understanding of the upfront costs involved in owning a swimming pool. These are not by any means small investments and you would do well to take the time to learn as much as possible about the process and expenses involved in owning and maintaining an in ground pool from month to month.

First-things-first, you can find pools all over the Internet that are pre fabricated. All you have to do is purchase the pool and have someone do the digging for you. The price tags for these pools run anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000, of course this price doesn’t include the digging and other accessories for the pool so they must be considered separately. The expenses other than the pool kit can add up to around $3,400 conservatively if you hire professionals to do the labor (which I highly recommend).

Some things that will need to be done in addition to purchasing the pool kit are the following: digging, laying concrete, decking, electrical work, and plumbing. If you can find a general laborer who is skilled in many of these and has an excellent reputation you might do better to hire the one than a separate expert for plumbing, digging, wiring, and any other help you may need with the installation process.

There are always variable when trying to determine an average cost of installing an in ground swimming pool. Some of the variables that must be considered are location, the type of ground that will need to be removed in order to install the pool, the average cost of labor in your area, how large the pool will be, how much (if any) of the work can you do for yourself, and are you purchasing a pre fabricated kit or do you want a custom made swimming pool for your home?

You should also ask around with friends and family in your area that have swimming pools already. Find out when they purchased their pools and if they received any kind of seasonal discounts. Many people will find that there are occasionally seasonal discounts offered during the slow seasons in order to encourage shoppers to purchase pools and keep their employees productive during the off season. This is a great way to cut down on the up front costs involved in owning an in ground pool. It is also another thing to consider when calculating the average cost of an in ground swimming pool.
